Copper Value Chain

As the world accelerates towards clean energy, the switch to renewable power generation (wind, solar, hydrogen) and electrification of vehicles has become a top priority. Copper is at the heart of this green revolution, owing to its high electrical conductivity, durability, and malleability. The metal also supports the electrical grid infrastructure, an essential asset in charging stations.

  • Copper is an essential commodity of everyday life
  • Copper is a wonder metal with anti-corrosive properties
  • Because of its high electrical conductivity, durability, and malleability, copper is integral to renewable energy systems, electric vehicles, batteries, and driving other aspects of Clean Energy
  • Copper is also used for making cables, transformers, electrolyzers, motors and castings, and alloy-based products
  • Together with Joint Venture partners from both China and Canada, our company is in the process of investing and building 8 copper concentration plants in four different locations all in Xinjiang Province. The capacity of each concentrate plant ranges from 7 million tons of feed to 21 million tons of feed, using low grade ores. Altogether, the company aims to produce a total of 160 million tons of copper concentrate in these seven locations, making Xinjiang Province one of the top ten producers of copper globally.
  • Additionally, usage of low grade sulfide ore to produce copper using advance technologies, via catalyst route, is being investigated to build smaller modular “direct” copper to cathode plants. Such plants would enable the unleashing of untapped resource potentials in the region.
  • The Company is now conducting feasibility studies of moving further in the value chain to build copper refineries.
